Supporting the Nashville community

Our team has been a part of the Nashville community for almost two years now. We opened our first Nashville Sonder space in the summer of 2019, and have since launched dozens more. Just like so many, we were shocked to wake up to sirens in the night and witness the horrific devastation left by the tornado.

In the wake of the storm, our team on the ground immediately got to work to support the community and those who were impacted most.

We are thankful for the partnership of the Mayor’s Office, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, and the Germantown Neighborhood Association who helped us identify more than two dozen families who lost their homes and were in immediate need of shelter. The assistance of these partners, paired with our ability to provide spaces on Airbnb Open Homes, allowed us to host community members in more than 25 Sonders after the storm, free of charge. And in the coming days, we’re offering a discount for bookings longer than two weeks at any Sonder.

We’ve also donated linens, pillows, towels, boxes of shampoo, dish detergent, soap and more to East Nashville collection efforts for those we weren’t able to host.

We’ve witnessed dozens of company-led efforts to help get people back on their feet, as well as individual gestures like our housekeeping partners showing up the day after the storm – even after losing their own homes. The endless generosity from people throughout the city has continued to inspire us. This giving spirit is what makes Nashville such an incredible community.
