Sonder expands its next-gen hospitality in London

Sonder is expanding in the UK with the opening of a new hotel property in London, Chelsea Green. Located in the heart of Kensington, Sonder’s latest location is a relaxing oasis that blends English heritage with modern sophistication.

Suitable for a short break or longer stays, all 54 rooms at Chelsea Green have ample space, and all the amenities needed for a hassle-free stay. The Victorian building features unique architecture, complete with a glass ceiling atrium, and is in walking distance from Hyde Park, King’s Road and the Natural History Museum. There are a variety of restaurants nearby, including Polpo, a cosy Venetian eatery, and Rabbit, which features a daily-changing menu with a focus on fresh foods from the English countryside.

It’s our top priority that every stay with us is as safe and comfortable as possible. As a tech-enabled hotel, Chelsea Green typifies Sonder’s contactless experience with self check-in, keyless entry and professional cleaning – all with the reliability of our digital concierge. Sonder’s custom-built app puts the power of the lobby on your phone, eliminating the hassle of queues and crowded lobbies to provide guests with an exceptional stay.

“At Sonder, we’re reimagining the way people travel,” said Lia Prendergast, Sonder’s GM of UK & Ireland. “We’re excited to open the doors of our latest property in such a beautiful neighbourhood, as we continue to grow in the UK and Ireland. With existing spaces in Edinburgh and Dublin, we are looking forward to partnering with local businesses and communities to help drive much-needed investment into the UK’s hospitality sector.”

Chelsea Green adds to Sonder’s four existing hotels and portfolio of apartment-style locations in London– with more to come this year. We’re proud that our growth in the UK is helping cities across the country to bounce back from the pandemic by utilising under-used properties and helping to deliver better value for owners and guests.

Steph Thrasyvoulou, co-owner, New World Hospitality, said: “We are thrilled to work with Sonder, a global hospitality brand that has interior design and modern service at its heart. The design project has breathed new life into the building, and will help to sustain jobs and accommodate more guests in the city at a crucial time for the travel industry.”

With local teams on the ground in every market, we are proud to help city centers welcome new visitors and support business in London. By restoring well-loved buildings with top class design in prime locations, we look forward to continuing to contribute to the capital city.

Globally, Sonder offers unique short and long-term stays for travellers and residents around the world, with over 14,000 spaces in more than 30 markets.
